Our Funded Projects

FoodWasteNet supported collaborative projects between academic researchers and industry-based members, and offered funding to support members developing applications for third party funding. Our funded projects investigated a range of food wastes/co-products.

Potential products included: food ingredients & flavours, prebiotics, polyphenolic compounds and biofuels.

A total of 39 Individual PIs in 26 individual HEIs received funding from FoodWasteNet:

  • 11 Proof of Concept (£481,087) to 10 individuals at 9 institutions
  • 10 Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund Seeding Projects (£321,533) to 9 individuals at 9 institutions
  • 27 Business Interaction Vouchers (£195,109) to 27 individuals at 20 organisations

40 individual companies were involved as Industrial partners on 48 FoodWasteNet funded projects

  • 14 partners in 11 PoC projects
  • 19 partners in 10 ISCF seeding projects
  • 24 companies involved in 27 BIV projects
